Marriage License Information
You will need a marriage license BEFORE you get married, but there is NO waiting time in Hawaii after you obtain your license, so you can literally drive to the wedding location right from the licensing office if you wish.
Getting a license is a two-step process. 1) You'll first fill out the marriage license application online by going to this link: https://emrs.ehawaii.gov/emrs/public/home.html Note that if you cannot or don't have time to do so, this MAY be done in person (see step 2). *When filling in the form, note that you do NOT need to fill in your wedding date (if you do, you must be married within 30 days of application; if you leave it blank, the license is good for up to one year), nor even the officiant information (although, if I am your officiant, you can search by my name, Rebecca Ann Ringler, or by my license number, 2014-07004), nor even the location, if you are unsure. All of that I can fill in after the service. 2) About two weeks prior to your arrival on Island (any sooner, and she'll typically ask you to contact her closer to your event), you will make an appointment with a Marriage License Agent (see below). You must appear in person, as a couple, to get your marriage license, even if you have applied online already. Note that she DOES take appointments on weekends. *If you are on another Hawaiian Island prior to coming to the Big Island, or you will be in Hilo prior to coming to the Kona side, you may choose a marriage license agent there and get it done then if you desire. Here is a link to the list of alternate Marriage License Agents in the State of Hawaii: http://health.hawaii.gov/vitalrecords/license-agents/ If you are picking up your marriage license here on the Big Island on the Kona side, please make an appointment with Marriage License Agent Andrea Bojorquez, whose office is located close to the Kona airport, just up the hill about 15 minutes. She speaks several languages, and, if you live outside of the U.S., she can assist you with instructions about how to make your marriage legal in your home country. Please contact her by email or phone about two weeks in advance of needing an appointment. Here is her information: Andrea Bojorquez Marriage License Agent Phone: (808) 990-1929 Email: [email protected] Unless you have been divorced fewer than 30 days prior to your wedding day (in which case, you will need to bring your divorce decree), the only things you will need to bring with you to your marriage license appointment are a valid legal photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID) and $5 in cash, which you will give to the marriage license agent at your appointment (yes, a funny Hawaiian law). There is no need (other than the circumstance at the start of this paragraph) to bring divorce decrees or death certificates to your appointment. And... That's it! You'll bring your copies with you to the service, to be signed after the service is concluded. I will then file it online, and you will be officially married! Your marriage certificate will be delivered to you within 2-10 weeks after your wedding is completed. The amount of time will depend on how busy it is at the State office, holidays, and whether you live out of country. If you have more questions, please feel free to read the blog I wrote on the topic HERE. |
Lei ChoicesOn this link you will find the lei choices included in your package, as well as one section of upgrades. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and not all leis are available at all times, but it'll give you a great idea!
Restaurant RecommendationsLooking for a place to eat while in Kona or for something special after your service? Access these Restaurant Recommendations for insider tips:
Bouquet Examples
Here you will find examples of the kinds of bouquet you can expect on your big day. Included in your package is a "surprise me" tropical bouquet, which means that I will make you a bouquet with whatever tropical flowers happen to be fresh at the time. You may certainly tell me if there are any flowers or colors you really don't like, or flowers or colors you do like, as well as tell me if there are any bouquets pictured here that you really love the look of. Finally, you may always send me a photo of a bouquet you want, but do note that there may be an upgrade fee associated with that bouquet, depending, and I will give you a quote based on the photo.
Papa Kona Events MenusHere are the links to the Papa Kona Menu Options! You can find your options for pupus (appetizers), buffets (set or custom), plated dinners, and wedding cakes. You will also find your bar menu options below as well.

Haku Examples (add-on)Although not included in your package, this is a very popular add-on for many brides ($65 and up). If you would like to add a haku (aka flower crown) to your package, please take a look at this Dropbox of examples and let me know if there are any you love, or any colors or sizes you like. This can be made to complement any lei or bouquet (or vice versa).
